What is Health Check in HDS?
It's polling every car module for DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) aka errors.
In HDS you have Health Check on main screen.
Next screen. No too much choice...
Yes, go for it.
And after that you will see how HDS cycle through different modules existing and not on your car.
I remember at VCDS VAG's tool (or VAG-COM), you can choose car model and trim and it will narrow list to your modules like on below screen with addresses, it will not scan from 01 to 99.
But looks like HDS can't detect installed equipment and scans everything...
Anyway, after ~1 minute scan finished and you see results.
You can also print report, example is here (PDF).
One thing I noticed when playing with Health Check is if you have errors and you trying to clear them with clear all button on the right - it will not work. Or maybe not always.
I got blower error, some SRS warning, ABS warning while ago probably after doing some stuff on the car. And I didn't knew about that until we got HDS in our hands :-) because not service light was shown. And we tried to clear errors with clear all errors button, but errors came back.
Yesterday I cleared them by "TOOL" button each after each. What it does, it opens specific module for that selected error and from there you have clear DTC code options for that module. And it worked! I now have zero errors as you can see in above report.
Another note that one of Civic owners in Israel have issue with his car - more than normal fuel consumption. He went to Honda dealer and asked them to check the car. They declined his request, but after fighting with them and Honda's support, they agreed to check the car.
They printed him PGM FI data list. Useless without context and other tests.
I've asked him, before he went there, to print also Health Check report and they denied that. I have theory that they probably afraid that there could be some error even not important so they should take a car and fix it. I know few owners with blower motor error shown, but motor works fine (like it was in my case).
If they decline your request for health check, you can refer to this post to show them how to do that :-P
And the last thing.
I recommend you to request Health Check at your dealer 2-3 month before your warranty is over. Just to be sure all systems are fine, at least as computer modules think.
